Rayleigh’S FitzWimarc School can boast one of the top moto cross riders in the country at his level.

Sid Evans, aged 12, who lives in Rayleigh, is enjoying big success at 85cc.

In 2009 Sid won the World Masterkids that took place in Belgium on a KTM65.

He also won the British Supercross for 2008/9 indoor racing at the O2 Arena and came second in the national championships.

He has now moved up to the KTM85 — a bigger bike with more power — and an older age group.

Sid has been riding since the age of six — his dad used to ride for fun and Sid tried it out on a field and has gone on from there. He first had a quad bike to practice on and improved so then got a KTM50, a small bike, and decided he would have a go at racing.

‘Racing is good and I hope to one day turn professional. I could, hopefully, make a good living out of it! “Last year I was accepted into an ACU Academy that develops champions and learnt about nutrition and psychology and I really enjoyed that. “I train around three times a week and also do fitness training.”
