GREAT Wakering were the only one of our local sides to progress in the FA Trophy.
Steve Heffer’s header and Dan Trenkel’s spot-kick were enough to give Ryan Wilkinson’s men a deserved win at Cheshunt.
But it was not such good news for EAST THURROCK as they conceded two late goals to lose at Ryman Division One North rivals Brentwood in a seven-goal thriller.
Brentwood took a 42nd-minute lead through Anthony Ryan, but Kris Newby equalised on the stroke of half-time.
Neil Richmond’s deflected shot gave Rocks the lead early in the second half, before Ellis Remy levelled for Brentwood.
An 85th-minute own goal from Nikki Beale looked to have won it for Rocks, but Remy drew his side level within a minute before substitute Dean Green hit a 92nd-minute winner following a goalmouth scramble.
TILBURY, meanwhile, exited the competition following a 3-1 defeat at Fleet Town.
Joel Etienne-Clarke had given the Dockers the lead, but a hat-trick by Johnny Dyer gave Town a comfortable victory.
GRAYS ATHLETIC were without a game this weekend. They are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Ware in Ryman One North.
