AFTER back to back draws in Essex Division 1, Old Southendian Ladies were determined to get their first win league win of the season against Chelmsford fourths.

But they got off to a bad start and went behind to an early goal.

But they responded well and began to put together sweeping passing moves and create opportunities.

And they were rewarded with three quick goals in the first half from Anna Stephenson, Ashlie Colman and Sarah Conway.

After the break, following great runs by Debbie Bisset and Georgina Butt, they added a further five goals which were shared between Stephenson, Colman and Conway., to run out 8-1 winners.

Old Southendian go to Old Loughtonian fourths on Saturday.

In East Division 1S, a goal from Daisy Durdan helped SOUTHEND came away from Colchester firsts with a 1-1 draw. Southend travel to Old Loughtonian seconds on Saturday.

And in East Division 2SE, Basildon lost 2-1 at Gillingham Anchorians firsts. Basildon host fourth-placed Gore Court firsts on Saturday.

l In men’s hockey, OLD SOUTHENDIAN fired themselves to second in the East Division 1 table with a 2-1 win at Broxbourne firsts. Old Southendian host Brentwood firsts on Saturday.

In East Division 2S, goals from Neil Utton and James Beardwell were not enough to stop SOUTHEND losing 4-2 at home to Saffron Walden firsts. Southend are at home to Stevenage on Saturday.

And ROCHFORD CASUALS enjoyed a 3-0 win at home to Old Loughtonian Academy in East Division 8SE. The Casuals go to Waltham Forest fourths on Saturday.
