TOMORROW’S clash at Roots Hall is again likely to be played in freezing conditions but Southend United manager Paul Sturrock does not want his players to be wearing too much warm weather gear.

A number of Premier League players, including Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, have been playing in snoods this season.

But Sturrock does not want of his Southend squad to follow suit.

“I don’t mind players wearing those kind of things for training as it keeps the muscles warm but not in a game,” said Sturrock.

“I can turn a blind eye to gloves because they do say if you keep your hands warm then the rest of your body takes care of itself but I wouldn’t want my players to be wearing snoods or anything like that.”
