SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock wants his side to sort out their home form, starting with tomorrow’s clash at Roots Hall against Wycombe Wanderers.

Blues have won just three of their eight league matches on their own ground so far this season.

And Sturrock knows that has to improve if 17th placed Southend are to surge up the League Two table.

“Our away form is quite reasonable so if we can keep that going and improve our home form then I think we will really start to move up,” said Sturrock.

“That’s what we want to happen and hopefully the win at Cheltenham can be the platform we needed to build on and we can get another good result against Wycombe.”

Sturrock knows that will not be easy though as the Chairboys are currently sixth in the table.

They have also never been beaten at Roots Hall and have won their last two games.

“Wycombe are a very difficult side to play against,” warned Sturrock.

“They are well organised and in the boy Ainsworth they have a very dangerous player.

“That means it will be a hard game but we want to go and get another good result.”

Sturrock’s hopes can again be hindered by injuries though as both Bilel Mohsni and Josh Simpson are struggling with ankle injuries sustained against Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.

Mohsni was on crutches at the training ground yesterday but Sturrock insists you can never rule out the centre-back.

“Bilel is a soldier and has played with some terrible injuries so he could still play,” said Sturrock.

“We will have to wait and see what the scan he’s had done shows and we will leave it late to decide on Josh as well.”

Tomorrow’s game will be Blues’ first at home for more than a month.
