CONCORD head to the league leaders tomorrow looking to underline their growing credentials as dark horses for the play-offs.

The newly-promoted Beachboys signalled their intentions to be more than also-rans in the Ryman Premier with an opening-day draw at home to a Sutton United side who were one of the pre-season title favourites.

The two teams meet in the reverse fixture tomorrow, and Concord joint manager Danny Scopes says his players are in confident mood ahead of their trip to Surrey.

He said: “They might have come to us at the start of the year and thought ‘it’s Concord Rangers, we should be able to get something here’.”

“But like all the teams they have had a look at us now, and might have a different attitude tomorrow.

“We are expecting a difficult second half of the season, but the longer we can stay in contention the better because it keeps our season alive.”

Billericay face a tough trip to sixth-placed Tonbridge Angels.

Town kicked-off their season with a 3-0 win at home to at Tonbridge in August, with goals from Chris Wild, Evans Kouassi and Danny Charge.

But a poor winter has seen them fall behind in the race for the play-offs, but they did get end a five-game losing streak at home to East Thurrock in the cup on Tuesday.

Canvey will hope to end their roller-coaster fortnight with a win at home to 13th-placed Margate.

The teams drew 2-2 at the start of the season.

Canvey started this month with a fantastic win at home to Billericay, but followed up with a shock 6-1 defeat at Harrow Borough, and then Tuesday night’s unlucky 3-1 reverse at home to Sutton.

Margate come into the match with three wins, two defeats and a draw from their last six games.

AVELEY are at home to 15th-placed Horsham. The teams played out a stalemate in the reverse fixture in August.

A win for Millers will take them out of the relegation zone if Maidstone don’t win at home to Harrow, and Hastings lose at Wealdstone.

Aveley manager Carl Griffiths said: “The spirit is good in the dressing room and I’ve seen enough here to convince me we’ll get out of trouble.

“But the Horsham game will be tough because they are probably the form team in the league. So we will need to be at our best.”
