BARRY Corr will be looking to improve what is already his most prolific professional season ever when Southend United visit high-flying Rotherham tomorrow.

The Irishman has scored in his last three games to take his tally for the campaign to 11.

And he believes his improved fitness record is the main reason for his improved form in front of goal.

“My games to goals ratio has never been too bad but I’ve just never really been able to stay fit,” said Corr whose previous best for the season was six with Exeter City last term.

“At Swindon I think I scored one in every two games but I was only playing 10 or 15 times a season.

“Last year I stayed fit at Exeter but they were the wrong club for me.

“This year though I’ve settled in well and I’ve also managed to stay fit for most of the games.”

Corr has started 17 games for Blues since signing during the summer.

But he continues to work incredibly hard to avoid any spells out of action.

“Training starts at 10.30 but I get in at nine to start the work I do,” said Corr who suffers from a long term back problem.

“I then also stay behind after training has finished to do even more work but it’s what I have to do to stay fit so it’s all worthwhile.

“It’s good to have 11 goals already, especially as that’s my best ever total in the same season.

“I did once get 100 in the same year when I was a kid but that doesn’t really count and I would be very happy to get to 20 this time around.”
