SOUTHEND United’s Scottish skipper Craig Easton wants to celebrate Burns Night with a win over Macclesfield Town this evening .

The club have agreed to let anyone wearing a kilt for the clash at Roots Hall in for half price.

And Easton hopes that can help Blues record their first win at home since October.

“There would be no better way for me to mark Burns Night than with three points and then maybe a whisky afterwards as well,” said the midfielder.

“I had my Burns supper on Saturday and it was an excellent night but it would great to extend the celebrations with a win over Macclesfield.

“I think it’s great the club have agreed to join in with the fun and it would be good to see some of our fans in kilts.

“But I won’t be wearing one because I don’t actually have a kilt.

“I know everyone in England thinks that’s all Scottish people wear and we only eat haggis but that isn’t actually true!”

Burns night is a celebration of the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns, whose birthday was January 25.

Blues’ fellow Scots - strikers Blair Sturrock and Matt Paterson, as well as manager Paul Sturrock - will also want a win to mark the occasion.

And Easton insisted the team are feeling confident ahead of the showdown with the Silkmen.

“Scoring late like we did to equalise against Bury on Friday gave us all a lift and now we want to build on that by beating Macclesfield,” said Easton.
