A SPECIAL presentation was made to the winning Thornton Cup Plate team at Rochford Hundred’s prize-winners supper when all the trophies for the year were handed out in front of almost 100 members.
The victorious line-up who took the Essex County team crown received momentoes from outgoing club captain Peter Leslie in his last official job before handing over the reins to Barry Finch.
The squad who collected engraved glassware were: Jimmy Dale, Arthur Leonard, Joe Galbraith, Neil Cochran, Liam Gray, Paul Birrell, Carl Matthews, Ben Franklin, Steve Weidner, Jordan Moss, Matt Fearn, Luke Fraser, Jack Joy, Lee Winsor and Adam Moy.
Thornton team captain John Gray was chosen by the captain as his Clubman of the year.
He hit traffic problems on the M25 and took four hours to get to Rochford from his home in Oxford but was certainly worth waiting for.
