SOUTHEND United’s Ryan Hall was left stunned by Northampton Town’s comeback at Roots Hall yesterday.

Hall put Blues 2-0 in front with a stunning long range shot just before the hour mark.

But the Cobblers still managed to claim a point to leave Hall shocked and subdued at the final whistle.

“I don’t really know what happened after we went 2-0 up but maybe a few of us lost concentration,” said Hall.

“It was frustrating and we’re all really disappointed because after getting in to such a good position like we did in this game it feels like we’ve suffered a massive defeat.

“We made some silly mistakes to lose the ball high up the pitch and in the end that’s what stopped us winning and we’re really annoyed about it.”

However, there were no such problems for Southend when Hall doubled their lead with an impressive effort from 25 yards.

And he was thrilled to see the ball hit the back of the net.

“When I get in to that kind of area I look at trying to set up one of my team-mates for an assist or I’ll have a shot,” said Hall.

“There wasn’t much on ahead of me when I got the ball so I just made sure I hit the target and luckily for me it went in.”

But, straight after Hall’s strike, Northampton got back in to the game with Adebayo Akinfenwa on target and they then equalised five minutes later with Arron Davies netting an equaliser.

As a result, Blues will be looking to bounce back when they face Swindon Town on Saturday but Hall knows that will also be a tough test for the team.

“Swindon are another good side and we know they will be hard to play against,” said Hall.

“We talked about that game in the dressing room though and we want to go there and get a win now.”
