SOUTHEND Manor players have been told to grab their chance to go on a memorable FA Cup run, starting with victory at home to Cheshunt tonight.

The Essex Senior League leaders held their Ryman One North opponents to a goalless draw in Hertfordshire on Saturday, and so the teams will do it all again in Southend this evening.

And with a home tie against Romford awaiting the winner, Manor’s assistant manager John Brandon says it provides a great chance to go on a great run in the famous competition.

He said: “Myself and Russell [Faulkner, the manager] keep saying to the boys that if they do well in the FA Cup then people will remember them for years to come.

“It is all good and well doing it against teams in the Essex Senior League every week, but this competition really gives our players the chance to show what they can do.

“And we are high on confidence at the moment. And if we could come through tonight and then get past Romford, we could set up a tie with one of our local big teams like Canvey or Concord.”

Manor were on the back foot early in the game on Saturday, but they responded well and had three great chances to win it late on.

Tom Hollingsworth, who is on loan from Concord, and Eddie Hart, who has returned to the club after a short spell at Redbridge, both had good chances before top-scorer Wilf Misiska, pictured right, missed a gilt-edged chance at the death.

Brandon said: “Once we got into the tempo of the game we did well and we even had their supporters telling us how well we had played.

“Our keeper Adam Seal, pictured left, has made a couple of fantastic point blank saves late on, but we had our chances to win it too, so we are expecting another exciting game tonight.”

Manor have an 18-man squad to pick from, but Aaron Baldwin has been ruled out for six weeks with a knee problem.

With no other local non-league games taking place this evening, a big crowd is expected at Southchurch Park for the game which kicks-off at 7.45pm
