CHIROPRACTOR Lester Brayham has teamed up with Southend Rugby Club in a bid to limit their injuries.

Brayham, who runs the Backworks Clinic along London Road, already works with Southend United.

And he has now also decided to help out the rugby team too.

“What I’m doing with the rugby team is very similar to what I do with the football club,” said Brayham.

“It’s been successful there and hopefully it will be with the rugby too.

“I’m very happy to be able to work with them and as far as I’m concerned the more sports I’m involved in the better.”

Brayham first become involved with the rugby team when two of their players visited his clinic suffering from disc problems in their back and neck and improved quite quickly following his treatment.

That link strengthened when Southend prop Mark Williams recently became Blues’ new strength and conditioning coach and Brayham will now also be working at Warners Bridge.

“Initially the players will be seen at Backworks as we need to get some of these injuries under control and once a week is not enough,” said Brayham.

“Then in the future we will look to set up a weekly on site clinic at the training grounds to work closely with their physiotherapist Steph.

“It would be modelled on the preventive programme at Southend United.

“We have a university based research team that is also interested in studying our outcomes.”
