SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock will hold talks with winger Jemal Johnson before deciding whether or not to name him in the squad for tomorrow’s clash with Bristol Rovers.
Johnson, 26, was interviewed by police yesterday in connection with an assault on a man outside Faces nightclub in Ilford last month.
The American-born player has been released on police bail until January.
And Sturrock has yet to decide if he will name the winger in his squad for this weekend’s encounter with the Pirates.
“Paul is planning to have talks with Jemal today and will then decide if to include him in the squad for the Bristol Rovers game,” confirmed a club spokesman.
If Sturrock does decide to select Johnson then he is only likely to be on the substitutes’ bench.
Johnson, who joined Blues during the summer, started the first two games of the season but has since fallen out of favour, subsequently making five appearances as a substitute.
