LASHINGS triumphed by 28 runs against Hadleigh and Thundersley’s at the club’s annual international day.

Lashings batted first and scored 237-6 from their 30 overs.

Former New Zealand international Lou Vincent led the scoring.

He racked up 90 while ex Pakistan star Mohammad Yousef hit 60 and former Australian wicket-keeper Ian Healy crafted a neat 40.

Hadleigh skipper Adam Fleming led the way with the ball, taking two wickets for 20 runs while Joe Robbins took 2-21.

The home-side’s opener Tom Phillipe then impressed with the bat, scoring an impressive 71 off 58 balls.

But Hadleigh ended their innings on 209/9.

Former England international Phil Defreitas was the most prolific bowler with 3-33 and that was enough to see Lashings succeed.

However, despite the result, Hadleigh captain Fleming was delighted at how the day went.

“It was a fantastic day at Hadleigh yet again,” said Fleming.

“These games just seem to get better and better every year and Lashings put on a great show for the crowd.

“Huge credit is due to all of those involved in putting the day together, of which there are too many to mention individually.

“This year we also owe a great debt to those who gave up their time to make sure the ground was fit for cricket. The game was in real jeopardy on Monday after the rainfall on Sunday and there was a lot of hours put in to get the ground playable.”
