SOUTHEND United centre-back Mark Phillips has joined Aldershot Town on loan for the rest of the season.
The 32-year-old failed to make the Shrimpers’ last three matchday squads.
And he will now be spending the remainder of the campaign with the Shots in the National Conference.
Blues boss Phil Brown said: “With John (Egan) and Jakub (Sokolik) doing so well and with Luke Prosser and Adam Thompson as back up right now we thought it made sense for Mark to move on to the get games he needs.
Phillips joined the club in the summer of 2010 and was named player of the year in his second season with the Shrimpers.
He made 112 appearances while at Roots Hall.
