IN-FORM striker Norman Wabo took his tally for the season to 13 with two more goals in Southend United’s under-23 side’s 4-0 win against Swindon Town this afternoon.

Wabo netted in either half against the Robins at Boots & Laces.

And the 19-year-old - who was on the bench for Blues’ first team at MK Dons earlier this month - was thrilled to bag a brace.

“It was great to get two more goals to add to the tally,” said Wabo.

“I’m really pleased with how it’s been going and scoring goals is the best feeling in the world so hopefully there are plenty more to come for me this season and we can keep on getting good results too.”

Wabo scored the Shrimpers’ first two goals in the convincing win against the Robins.

And Blues coach Kevin Maher was happy to see Wabo shine once again for his side.

“Norman has certainly got a knack of scoring goals and it was good to see him get another couple,” said Maher.

“He can drive you mad at times with some of the things he does but he’s there when it matters and he’s got two more goals.

“He’s flying at the moment and as long as we create opportunities for him I’m sure he will be taking them.”

Wabo fired the Shrimpers in front after just eight minutes when he sent a rising right footed shot into the top right hand corner of the net following a powerful run from Michael Klass.

With Blues remaining on top, Dru Yearwood then saw a 20 yard shot parried out by Swindon goalkeeper Archie Matthews before the Robins shot-stopper also gathered a close range effort from Klass.

But the Shrimpers finally doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Wabo latched onto a poor defensive header before beating the advancing Matthews with an assured finish.

Klass soon made it 3-0 with an accurate half volley from the edge of the penalty area before Tom Clifford completed the scoring with a powerful left-footed shot which flew into the right hand side of the net.

The Shrimpers included former Charlton Athletic defender Romano Simpson at the heart of their back four.
