BEN Coker has called on Southend United to get back to basics ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Northampton Town.

Blues have slipped to 17th in the standings after a poor run of results.

And Coker has called on the team to stick together as they bid to bounce back against the Cobblers.

“If we get back to basics and work hard I think we’ll be alright,” said Coker.

“You’re going to have these moments and you have to work through them. We look to win every game but we’ve got to be a lot tighter.

“We’ve got to nick a goal and stay solid and I think we’ve got the right people around the club to do that.”

But Coker also knows Blues must do their talking on the pitch.

“You can talk all you want but I think we’ve got to stop talking now,” said Coker.

“We’ve got to get out on the pitch and perform how we know we can. I think a lot of people talk a lot of rubbish around it and the club but we have to get on with it and do our thing.”
