MICHAEL Kightly insists Southend United will not get carried away by their run of good results.

The Shrimpers head to Bury tonight having triumphed in all three of their games since Chris Powell replaced Phil Brown in the Roots Hall hotseat.

But Kightly knows Blues must continue to work hard if Powell’s winning start is to be extended.

“Nobody will be getting carried away because you can’t afford to ever let that happen,” said Kightly, who has scored in three of his last four games.

“We’ve been doing well and we’ve got some good results, but we have to keep this going.

“We have to keep on working hard to pick up more points, starting with the game against Bury.”

However, Kightly is expecting a difficult test against the Shakers despite them sitting bottom of the table.

“Bury are fighting for their lives so we know it’s going to be a tough game,” said the 32-year-old.

“It’s a quick turnaround but we’ve prepared right and we want to go there and keep on performing as well as we have been.

“We want to build on the Wigan performance and get another good result.”

And as Blues bid to secure a fourth successive win, boss Powell will have Michael Turner and Marc-Antoine Fortune available even though they both suffered cuts to the face during the 3-1 win against Wigan Athletic at the weekend.

“One of them had stitches and one refused,” said Powell.

“I won’t tell you who did what but they’re both fine and trained yesterday, which is good news.

“Josh Wright has been training with us and hopefully he may be around for the Portsmouth game at the weekend and Sam Mantom as well.

“But everyone from the weekend is fighting fit and raring to go.”

The Shrimpers will again be without defenders Rob Kiernan (knee) and John White (ankle), midfielder Anthony Wordsworth (calf) and goalkeeper Ted Smith (shoulder) for tonight’s clash.
