SOUTHEND United have splashed £226,258 on agents, according to new figures released by the Football Association.
The vast figure - for the period between February 2017 and January 2018 saw the Shrimpers ranked fourth in the whole of League One.
Blackburn Rovers topped the charts having spent £764,024 while Wigan Athletic were second with £557,33 ahead of third placed Charlton Athletic who paid £425,466.
But the Shrimpers were in fourth during a spell which saw them sign Michael Turner, Michael Kightly, Rob Kiernan and Josh Wright.
New contracts were also signed by Anton Ferdinand, Theo Robinson, Dru Yearwood and Jason Demetriou.
However, despite the spending, Blues are currently 12th.
