SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell felt the Shrimpers did not deserve to suffer a 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers.

Danny Graham’s second half header handed the League One leaders all three points at Ewood Park.

But Powell felt his side should have picked up at least a point.

“We should have got something,” said the Blues boss.

“Our performance from start to finish was befitting of a side who are higher in the league.

“We took the game to them.

“They’re a good side and they’re dead certs to go up but our game plan was good and I’m standing here now wondering how we didn’t get at least at point.

“There was a crazy goalmouth scramble and we should have had a penalty too.”

The Shrimpers were aggrieved when referee Andy Woolmer opted to play on after Dominic Samuel appeared to bring down Simon Cox in front of goal.

And Powell did not agree with the decision.

“Why would he go down in the six yard box?” questions Powell.

“He got a push but sometimes they go for you and sometimes they don’t.”
