SIMON Cox feels tonight’s Carabao Cup tie at Stevenage is an ‘important’ clash for Southend United’s season.
Blues have been beaten in their first two games of the new campaign.
And Cox is desperate for the Shrimpers to bag their first victory.
“It’s an important game because you don’t want to go too far into a season without your first win so if we can get it tonight then great,” said Cox.
“If not then we’ll be out of the cup and that’s something we don’t want.
“We want to progress and find some momentum from somewhere and give us a kick that we need.”
However, Blues have not won in the competition since 2010.
