SOUTHEND United's clash at Portsmouth, which was due to take place on Saturday, has been postponed due to international call-ups.

Portsmouth have had three players called up by their countries.

And the Hampshire side have now opted to put the game back.

A Blues club statement on their official website said: "Portsmouth have had three players called up by their national side for duty next weekend and therefore requested to the EFL on Sunday (September 1) to call the game off.

"EFL rules state a home side with three or more players called up for international duty must give a minimum of five clear days notice of request to postpone a fixture, whereas if an away side is requesting the postponement of a match, it shall give a minimum of seven days notice.

"We will update supporters of ticket information and regarding refunds in due course once this is confirmed with Portsmouth on Monday.

"Details of a rearranged date will also be announced in due course."
