GARY Waddock feels the next Southend United manager will be facing a tough task.

Waddock has been Blues’ caretaker chief for the past seven games.

But, following this afternoon’s 4-1 defeat to AFC Wimbledon at Roots Hall, Waddock believes whoever will replace him at Roots Hall has a difficult job on his hands.

“The results show it’s not been good enough and we know that,” said Waddock.

“The players will have to take responsibility too.

“We’ve had experienced people in here and the results haven’t changed as such so this is a tough job for anyone really.”

Henrik Larsson and Sol Campbell are both still in the running to be the next Blues boss.

But Waddock is unsure when a decision will be made.

“I don’t know,” said the former Wycombe Wanderers boss.

“The chairman has put a statement out and whatever comes of that this week will be the decision.

“But I don’t know any more than you do.”

Blues have lost 10 of their 12 League games this season and sit second from bottom in the table.
