OUR injury situation shows no signs of easing off and is actually starting to get worse if I’m honest.

Adam Thompson and Michael Timlin have now been added to the list of players needing treatment.

And it has led to me having a real look into the way we do things.

Tims, Noel Hunt, Gary Deegan, Myles Weston and Stephen McLaughlin are all suffering with foot problems so I looked beyond the remit.

I’ve looked at the surfaces we train on, the conditions we train in and pretty much everything else you could think of.

But I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just a coincidence that we’ve been picking up these injuries.

Those players who are fit we’ve been wrapping up in cotton wool this week to stop us from picking up any more problems.

However, we’ll find out today just how serious the situation really is.

Hopefully a few of the players will be back in training, including Adam Thompson.

He has a problem with his glute which I think must be as a result of him playing twice in the space of just four days.

Tommo had been out for a quite a while before the two games and maybe I should have considered resting him or Adam Barrett, who has also come back into the team after a recent injury.

But they’re not the types of players who enjoy being rested which is always admirable and they did well to keep a clean sheet against Bristol Rovers so I felt they deserved to keep their places too.

For 40 minutes of last weekend’s game at Sheffield United I also felt as though we produced our best football of the season so far.

However, we need to see more of that now and we look to start picking up more points.

And that starts with the game against Blackpool this coming Saturday.

DAVE HAS MADE THE MOST OF HIS CHANCE

THE injuries we’ve suffered have opened the door for one or two players who have really made the most of their opportunities.

David Worrall, right, in particular, has been exceptional since coming back into the team.

He had been a bit down, out of sorts and hadn’t really been training properly, which is something the supporters don’t see.

But we have Wozza back on track now and it’s brilliant to see.

Kevan Hurst has done well and Will Atkinson made the most of his chance at the weekend.

His passing stats were terrific and we just need him to relax a little bit in front of goal now which is something we’re working on with him.

Jack Payne is another one doing well and I do think now is his time.

He’s literally been banging at my door to play and now he’s got his chance which, from reading his interview in the Echo on Monday, he’s now very keen to build on.

HUNT WILL BE LIKE A NEW SIGNING FOR US

NOEL Hunt has one foot outside the treatment room now but we can’t afford to rush him back too soon.

When we get him back it will be like a new signing and we’re hoping he will be back running next week.

With Noel and the other players we have out injured I have looked at the possibility of making loan signings.

At the moment it appears clubs are keeping hold of their players as we approach Christmas and the only ones being offered to us are the ones nobody really wants.

However, we will keep trying and maybe the situation might soon start to change.
