THE players have been in every day this week because we need to get to the bottom of what’s been going wrong.

They do normally have Wednesdays off to split things up a little bit but we had them all in yesterday to go through one of two things.

It’s not been a hard week physically for them, it's been a hard week in the classoom instead.

It’s just been about going back to basics and getting everything right again.

We’ve had three very poor results in a row now and, more worryingly for me, three very poor performances.

We know we’re still in a good position in the league and that we have made an awful lot of progress in the past two years or so.

Blues were heavily beaten at Swindon Town on Saturday

But we don’t just want to stop still and admire that, we want to move on and keep on doing even better which is why we’ve had the kind of week we’ve had.

Confidence is always an issue in football and the best way to get that back would be to get the three points at Peterborough on Saturday.

People have been quick to tell me this week that they have scored more goals than anyone else in League One this season but they have also conceded 38 goals as well.

Their games have been very open but that’s not something I want to continue when we go there at the weekend.

COKER WILL BE MISSED

WE will be forced into making at least one change this weekend as Ben Coker will be missing with a groin injury.

He will be out for four weeks or so and we’re looking at getting a replacement in on loan for him.

It’s for situations like this that we have a scouting network in place which allows us to be able to bring in a replacement of a good standard.

I don’t think we have got too many signings wrong in the past two years or so and I would like to think it’s a reward for the due diligence we do.

Ben Coker - out for a month with a groin injury

As far as looking as a new left-back is concerned we have identified three possible targets.

We will continue to chase things up with their respective clubs and I’m confident we will get a deal done.

But it’s not just a case of bringing in any old left-back, we will bring in one who we feel will do well for us.

As for the rest of the team we’re always looking to improve and seeing who else is available.

Whether or not that’s a goalkeeper, a right-back, centre-back, midfielder or a striker it doesn’t matter we just want to become a better team and keep on progressing.

HOPING TO EXTEND LOZA'S TRIAL

JAMAR Loza is back with us this week and I’m going to try and ask if it would be possible to extend his trial from Norwich City for a further week.

So far his week has been largely dominated by the under 21 game at Barnet and he was just in for a cool down yesterday.

He did well in the 21s but anyone with first team experience should do to be honest unless they get dragged down to that level.

Echo:

Jamar Loza - back on trial with Blues

It’s hard to make an accurate call on just that one performance so I would like to see him in a training session in and around the first team before deciding whether or not to sign him on loan.

That’s why I will be asking Norwich if it would be possible to keep Jamar here at least until next week as well.
