A NEW community-based football club are taking their first steps in the game.

Fryerns Boys Under-10s were formed to give youngsters in the area a chance to play football and lead a more active lifestyle.

The team will compete in the South East Essex Primary League, whilst an under-six mini soccer school will form the basis of an under-seven league side next season.

The club will play out of the Fryerns Social Club, on Whitmore Way, and manager Jon Northwood said it was a great opportunity for the youngsters.

“A few of the boys have played together for a couple of years but we have had a number of newcomers this season and can start a second team already.”

Fryerns Boys will train and play their home games at Westlake Park, on Pound Lane, Bowers Gifford. They will be back in pre-season training from Saturday at 10am and Jon already has a number of pre season friendlies arranged to ensure the boys begin the season in top form.

If anyone would like the opportunity to join this new venture and be part of growing youth football in the community then call Jon on 07753 738566.
