THE South East Essex Primary Mini Soccer League held its finals in the blazing sunshine at Great Wakering Rovers ground at Burroughs Park on Sunday.

And after weeks of rain, cloud and drizzle the weather gods smiled on the youngsters who played their finals in blazing sunshine.

Formed 15 years ago, the league has strived to provide plenty of friendly competition for local youngsters and its finals day has become a big part of the local children’s soccer scene.

The under 9s played 40 minute games while the under 10s played 25 minutes each way.

Results: U10 Lions: Benfleet Youth Lions 1–3 Eversley Boys Lions U10 Tigers: Island Boys Lions 2-0 Trinity Youth Tigers U8 – Exhibition match: Supreme Youth Lions v Leigh Rocket Tigers.

U9 Tigers: Catholic United Tigers 1–0 Leigh Ramblers Pumas U9 Lions: Ecko Whitecaps Lions 0–1 Concord Rangers Lions.

The East Essex Primary Mini Soccer League’s finals day, brought plenty of smiles.

Highlight for the league members was the attendance by Adam Scott – a long standing league member who has been ill but managed to make it to the game, and presented the the U9 trophy.
