WEST Ham United have pulled off a major coup after completing the season-long loan signing of Joe Hart.

The England no.1 has joined the Hammers on a temporary deal from Manchester City, with a view to a permanent move next summer.

Hart spent last season on loan with Italian Serie A side Torino after being told he was not in Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s plans.

That has remained the case since his return to the Etihad Stadium, and West Ham have benefited from the goalkeeper falling down the pecking order at his parent club.

The signing of Hart is a real statement of intent from Hammers boss Slaven Bilic.

West Ham have been struggling to get big names to make the move to the London Stadium - with numerous household names snubbing the Hammers over the past two summer transfer windows.

But Hart’s move, along with the shrewd signing of his former Manchester City team-mate Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer, represents good business from West Ham.

Also, more big names may now be more inclined to join the east London club.

Bilic has made Javier Hernandez his no.1 striker target this summer.

The Mexican striker, who enjoyed a stint with Manchester United, has a release clause of £13m in his Bayer Leverkusen contract.

It is understood that West Ham have met that fee, but Hernandez is still mulling over the move.

However, the addition of star names such as Hart may sway Hernandez back to the Premier League with the Hammers.

The signing of Hart will put question marks over the futures of Adrian and Darren Randolph.

Both goalkeepers were given an extended opportunity between the sticks for the Hammers last season, but were prone to making key errors and failed to fill Bilic and Hammers fans with confidence.

Hart will certainly become West Ham’s first choice goalkeeper for the 2017/18 campaign, with him keen to impress ahead of the World Cup next summer.

Randolph, who is looking to nail down the Republic of Ireland no.1 jersey ahead of the tournament in Russia, has been the subject of interest from Newcastle United and Middlesbrough.

With Hart coming into the fold, it is likely that Adrian or Randolph’s stay at the club will come to an end by the time the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

The Hammers are now likely to listen to offers for both goalkeepers.

A loan move for one of them could even be an option, in case Hart’s temporary move does not become permanent.
