UNLESS something miraculous occurs, Derby County will end the season as the worst team in Premier League history.

Last season's Coca-Cola Championship play-off winners have proved that you can be promoted too early, winning just one league match all season - a 1-0 home win over Newcastle United on September 17.

Under first Billy Davies, who departed in November, and then Paul Jewell, the Rams have found themselves butted time and again, with last Saturday's 6-0 home thrashing by Aston Villa was the latest in a series of humiliating results for the East Midlands side. Derby have also crashed 7-1 at Chelsea, 5-0 at Arsenal, 4-0 at Tottenham and 4-1 at Manchester United.

The defeats have also piled up at Pride Park, where West Ham won 5-0 last November.

In all competitions this term, Derby's record reads played 37, won two (including an FA Cup penalty shoot-out win over Sheffield Wednesday), drawn nine, lost 26.

Winger Giles Barnes and defender Claude Davis (both knee) are out.
