THE heavy rains has seen Doggett’s water clear making the float fishing much slower although with the bream not feeding so constantly most anglers are picking up the odd bonus tench.

The pike have been quite busy with fish to twelve pounds being landed.

The carp anglers are finding some nice fish with the long arm and south bank being favourite.

Mikey Hilstead fished a night between storms with his father who only caught bream and tench.

But as usual son Mikey boosted the bag with a scrappy eighteen pound mirror.

Lee Crawford has been struggling to land his first Doggett’s carp.

But the keen angler opened his account in style with a very pretty 25lb fully scaled fish.

Flushed with success, Lee returned to fish the south bank for a day.

And he was delighted when he promptly landed a very decent 17lb common.

Local bait adviser Ian Simmons spent an evening testing a new Eclipse Chicken and garlic boilie, with some considerable success.

It obviously worked as he banked two upper double mirrors.

Peter Fox fished a night on the south bank point.

He could see a few fish feeding in the margins.

Peter landed a 19lb mirror but was disappointed to lose a much bigger fish.

The best haul of fish definitely fell to Mick Martin of Rochford.

He fished two nights on the long arm section of the popular lake.

Using five kilos of boilies Mick landed four mirrors of fifteen, seventeen, twenty two and twenty five pounds.

Mick’s bag would have been larger as he lost a nice fish at the net but along with the four good carp he did land a staggering 17 tench.
