Anyone who puts their own address into a sat nav is a plank. If it is stolen from their car the thief can do the same thing and know there is a reasonable chance the address is empty and asking to be burgled. Just use the name of your town/village.

...or don't label it as 'home'....better still don't leave the sat nav on display in the motor.
And surely burglars could just knock on someones front door...if no one answers then theres a fair chance no one is at home.

I had mine stolen about 3 years ago. All items were recovered. Coppers asked me to identify. I turned the sat nav on and the first thing it said was this sat nav belongs to .... And they still needed me to identify it more. These will most likely end up as no recovered in months to come.

Especially in the car park by the Baronial Towers. But of course, the lawyers will say the Police were fishing, so a no go there. They have to have grounds these days. My word man, do you not watch "Law and Order UK?"

From the officer himself - PC Dan Onley -
Yes I have turned them all on and checked home, recent destinations etc but they are all wiped, this was the first thing I checked. I have received contact from some potential victims so looking positive.

ABSOLUTLEY 100% what you are saying. I had mine stolen in 2009 and 16 months later a copper knocked on my door and asked me to come to Brentwood police station as my TomTom was there.

They arrested a thief thaey started the sat nav and went favourites home and there was my address.
