A HOUSING developer is launching the second phase of a Hawkwell development.

David Wilson Homes is selling 53 three and four bedroom detached properties from Saturday.

The Clements Gate development, in Thorpe Road, which will provide 175 homes, has not been without controversy.

Thorpe Road residents complained about damage to the road surface allegedly caused by contractors, and district councillors also raised concerns about the site’s drainage.

However, the developers were praised for naming a road on the initial development after local soldier Lt Aaron Lewis, who died in Afghanistan.

The 53 homes will be launched between 10am and 6pm on Saturday.

David Eardley, managing director for David Wilson Homes eastern counties, said: “We have already been inundated with hundreds of inquiries before the official launch.

“The rural location of Clements Gate, coupled with quality new homes and an easy commute to central London, is proving extremely popular with homebuyers.”

The Government-backed ‘Help to Buy’ scheme at Clements Gate means homebuyers require only a 5 per cent deposit to buy one of the homes, which range from £332,995 to £599,995.

All very well, but at these prices, what financial level of people are they aiming for?
