AN MP donated a pile of dog food to a kennels after her beloved pet died last month.

Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point, decided, after her 11- year-old lurcher Dido passed away, to donate the remaining dog food.

Acres Way Kennels, in Great Burches Road, Benfleet, received the donation with open arms.

The kennels take in both boarders and strays and look after up to 50 dogs at any time.

Mrs Harris said: “Dido had pancreatic cancer so when we had to put her down we were left with quite a lot of dog food.

“ I decided to come down to Acres Way and see if they could put the dog food to good use.”

This story bemuses me. I'm not sure how this is newsworthy, even for the local rag!

Agreed - why is this news?

My cat died a new months ago and i donated her renal food to the cats protection - I'm also now fostering a senior cat - where's my story??

I'd rather an article promoting Acres Way, just do that.

I was kinda wondering the same thing. It isn't like it was a huge amount of dog food. The Echo just gets weirder.

...and the Echo just so happened to hear about it.
This really is scraping the bottom of the barrel for a bit of publicity for the MP and, at the same time, sending a message that she, the charity, and the Echo consider all other donaters and contributors to the charity as mere insignificant nobodys. Well done Ms Harris and the Echo... another good day at the office. Hope you are very pleased with your efforts.
