“MAD Friday” saw the number of people arrested increase by 10 per cent compared to a normal Friday night.
The last weekend before Christmas is one of the police’s busiest of the year, with many people celebrating the start of their holiday, leading it to be nicknamed Mad Friday.
Essex Police say there were 122 arrests, mostly drink-related, on Friday and Saturday night.
Chief Insp Nick Lee said: “The number of arrests is about 10 per cent higher than other weekends during the year and most of these arrests were drink-related.”
