ADVENTURE Island’s new £5million indoor amusement park will ensure the attraction stays open all year round.

Adventure Inside, built in six months between Southend Pier and Feelgoods restaurant, opened in time to welcome a deluge of locals and daytrippers over the Easter weekend.

The attraction features a climbing area, carousel, large pirate ship ride and various arcade games including a retro Pac Man Battle Royale.

While it will stand alone out of season, during the spring and summer months the indoor amusement park links up with Feelgoods and Adventure Island via an underground tunnel.

It also features in the group’s various season tickets, which also include Sea Life Adventure.

The development has already created 100 jobs, but Marc Miller, managing director of Adventure Island, said this is likely to rise during high season – bringing the group’s total employees to about 1,000.

The building is clad in iridescent panelling, which is natural self-regulating in terms of temperature.

The attraction looks set to grow even further, with plans already in place to extend the highly popular play area, as well as adding another ride, more arcade machines and more trees and plants.
