THE war poets will feature in a special production at the Poppies: Wave sculpture at the end of the month.

Jubilant Productions will recite extracts from their critically acclaimed 2014 production, Merry It Was To Laugh There, as part of the free activities to accompany the sculpture by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper at Gunners Park in Shoebury.

The extracts contain poems and diary readings. The poems are those from the Front by poets such as Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen, and the Home Front by women such as Jessie Pope and Frances Cornfield.

There will be performances on Monday 29 May at 12noon, 1pm and 2pm and on the final day of the poppies display on Sunday 25 June 25, at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.
