TEACHERS at a Leigh school are celebrating after the school picked up a Basic Skills Quality Mark.
The award, which recognises commitment to improving provision for literacy and numeracy, was given to Our Lady of Lourdes School, in Manchester Drive, by Alan Wells, the former director of the Basic Skills Agency.
Lisa Hopkinson, deputy headteacher at the school, said: "We are delighted to receive the Basic Skills Award, which reflects the high standards of teaching and learning at Our Lady of Lourdes, where every child matters."
