This is a busy weekend for concerts across the region, with plenty to choose from.
Today (Friday) there is a violin and piano recital at 1.30pm at St John’s Arts and Recreation Centre in Old Harlow, performed by Jane Faulkner and Gary Peacock.
The Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir (pictured) will be singing at Chelmsford Cathedral today at 12.30pm, and will then be travelling to Colchester to perform an evening concert at St Botolph’s Church.
Tomorrow evening the Southend Chamber Music Club has a performance at 7.30pm at St Margaret’s Church, Leigh, with music by Haydn, Bach and Delius.
In Brentwood Cathedral there’s a chance to hear Hutton and Shenfield Choral Society performing music by Mozart and Bruckner, and in Chelmsford Cathedral the Waltham Singers are performing Elgar’s “Dream of Gerontius”.
The Essex Concert Orchestra has a concert in Rayleigh Evangelical Church, and the Woodford Symphony Orchestra can be heard at Roding Valley High School in Loughton.
All of these concerts start at 7.30pm. On Sunday Harlow Symphony Orchestra has a concert at Old Harlow Arts Centre with music by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.
The Southend Musical Festival continues this week at Kings Road UR Church (formerly Crowstone UR Church) in Westcliff with classes throughout the days and evenings.
Looking ahead to next Friday night. at the Plaza Centre, Southchurch Road, the pianist Nicholas McCarthy, who was born without his right hand, will be performing at 8pm.
