Labrinth is to put Glasgow in the spotlight with a 3D interactive video mapping projection in the build-up to the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards in the city.
Glasgow City Chambers will be lit up in a light show for the singer and producer’s latest single, Let it Be.
The projection will take place in George Square on Friday November 7 from 7pm, once an hour on the hour, until midnight and again on Saturday November 8 from 4pm until 11pm.
It is said to be the first time the new technique has been used in a music video.
Labrinth said: “When I was thinking of coming back I decided I wanted to make every performance, every show, every music video as extreme as it could be. This video is a way of saying to my Scottish fans ‘I’m back, let’s do this’.”
The projection has been arranged by Labrinth, MTV and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
The singer will also take part in an MTV Breaks Pop-up event in an intimate acoustic session where he will perform stripped-back versions of some of his biggest-selling singles. The session will run from 1pm to 2.15pm on Saturday November 8 at St Jude’s in Bath Street, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year’s EMA show will be hosted by Nicki Minaj and is to feature performances by Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran. It will be broadcast live on MTV on Sunday November 9.
On that day, the Finnieston Crane in Glasgow will also be lit up with light projections by the MTV team.
