Russell Brand has decided he is rich enough and doesn’t need to make any more money.
The comedian and actor revealed to Vanity Fair that although he will still accept pay cheques for his stand-up work and other pursuits, from now on he will use some of his cash to help others.
Russell – who has written a new book, Revolution, about how he wants to see society change – said: “I have decided that I don’t need to make any money any more.”
The 39-year-old, who previously battled drug problems, said one of the ways he will use his earnings is to help people battling addiction.
He said: “The money that I get, I’m going to use for the establishment of community centres, which will sell good food and provide a place for people to hang out: initially, a service for people recovering from drug addiction, but also an incubator for social enterprises, where people will work, on a not-for-profit basis, in a wide variety of trades.”
