IF you’re a fan of Saving Mr Banks, or indeed musical theatre in general you won’t want to miss A Spoonful of Sherman when it hits Essex in the spring.

The musical stage show features the songs of the Oscar-winning brothers, Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman including hits from Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Charlotte’s Web, and The Aristocats.

The production is now touring across the UK but will only be stopping in one theatre in Essex- the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch, where it will run from April 15-17.

This show stars a wealth of musical talent including musician/songwriter Mark Read, member of the smash hit boyband A1 and Olivier Award nominated Sophie-Louise Dann, whose West End credits include: Celia in The Girls; Bend it Like Beckham Made In Dagenham, Lend Me a Tenor, 42nd Street, and Jolson.

The Sherman brothers were featured in the Saving Mr Banks, In 1964 they picked up two Oscar’s at the Academy Awards, one for their song, Chim Chim Cheree from Mary Poppins and the other for the best original score for their soundtrack to the film.
