IT'S that time of year again when Basildon's well known mandolin wizard and music promoter Joe Hymas, honours his word to hold an annual music concert in memory of his dad, at St. Nicholas Church.
Music From the Church, held in memory of Dave Hymas, "a true music lover" takes place tonight from 7:30pm at the church in Laindon.
Playing is Jolene Missing, who has her folk album coming out this week.
Joe explained: "It features various guest musicians and as usual I'm playing guitars, mandolins and banjos.
"We'll be playing the album in its entirety this Wednesday.
"I'm also doing a set with prolific 1960s and 70s bluegrass and folk artist Dave Plane and playing tribute to his late great mandolin partner Andy Townend. Opening for us is local singer songwriter Ellis McLeod of the Klik who is doing a 100 per cent acoustic session."
* Jolene is also playing this Friday, April 13, at the Preview Club in East Street, Prittlewell, at the rear of the RNA club. Entry is free (£1 for life membership).
