The A127 has been shut between the M25 and the Halfway House junction by police due to flooding.
Drivers have reported long queues because of the closure and traffic police are warning drivers not to take any risks in the flood water.
Flooding has also been reported in Horndon and London Road, Wickford was also hit earlier today.
