COMEDIENNE, entertainer, singer and songwriter, Joyce Grenfell, was one of the great British performers.

Celebrating her centenary year, theatre production Turn Back the Clock is a revue dedicated to Joyce. Actress Cheryl Knight will recreate Joyce’s wit, wisdom and charm.

The entertainer performed for troops during the Second World War and wrote for the BBC, as well as performing her famous monologues and signature song, I’ll See You Tomorrow.

Joyce will be brought to life and remembered by Cheryl, who had a successful sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival and a hit in London before bringing the show on tour.

Showing that all you need is a nice pianist, a French pleat, a pearl necklace and a lovely taffeta skirt, the evening will see some of Joyce’s most popular moments relived.

Older audience members will enjoy the evocation of one of England’s most popular female performers, while younger members will see the vintage humour for the first time.

Turn Back the Clock is at the Palace Theatre, London Road, Westcliff, on Thursday, January 24,  at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16.50, Call 01702 351135.
