WINTRY weather didn’t put people off trying their hand at a new sport.
More than 1,000 visitors flocked to Clements Hall Leisure Centre in Hawkwell for Rochford District Council’s free Family Sports Festival.
Families with children of all ages were treated to a sports day extravaganza which included Badminton, Boccia, Climbing, Dance, Fencing, Karate, Squash and Swimming.
Keith Gordon, councillor responsible for leisure, said: “The event was a huge success and attracted more than 1,000 visitors during the day.
It’s great that so many families enjoyed themselves and had fun together. A wide range of activities ensured that both children and adults of all ages were catered for.
“Not only was this a fantastic opportunity to try out a number of sports it was a chance to discover a new hobby to help put families on track for a healthy future.”
The Family Sports Festival sessions were organised by Rochford District Council in partnership with Virgin Active, activerochford and activecastlepoint.
