POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a collision on Southend seafront which left a woman with a broken hip.

It comes after a pedestrian and a cyclist were involved in a collision near to the entrance of the Pier, in Western Esplanade, at about 1.40pm on Sunday June 9.

The pedestrian, a 56-year-old woman, remains in hospital.

Officers particularly want to hear from anyone who saw a white bicycle in the area at that time.

They would also like to speak with a man who is believed to have tried to stop the cyclist from riding away.
