TOWIE's latest star helps launch Tenerife flights from Southend Airport

Echo: TOWIE's latest star helps launch Tenerife flights from Southend Airport TOWIE's latest star helps launch Tenerife flights from Southend Airport

TOWIE’s newest starlet, Pascal Craymer, donned a sundress and relaxed on an artificial beach at Southend Airport to launch its new route to Tenerife.

Pascal, 26, frolicked in the beach scene complete with buckets, spades, orange towels, suntan lotion, deckchairs and Rossi ice cream.

Echo:

The scene was created outside the terminal building to mark the neweasyJet flights which will run twice weekly from the airport to the Canary Islands from Friday.

Pascal, who lives in Leigh and was last seen in Towie splitting from boyfriend Mario Falcone, said: “I’ll be using the new route.

“I love this airport. I use it all the time – it’s so quick and hassle free.

“I’ve been to Marbella about five or six times from Southend now, and I try to fly from here as much as I can, as I’m only round the corner.

“Towie’s been to Marbella before, so you never know, Tenerife could be our next destination.”

The airport’s operations director, David Lister, said the new destination had been well received.

He added: “It’s one of our most requested routes.

“One of the great things is it’s extending the range of destinations you can visit from Southend.

“The reaction from the public has been absolutely fantastic.

“Local people have been requesting this route so they’re really pleased to see it being put on, and we’ve seen really good forward bookings for the flights already – so it’s working really well.”

The airport was recently voted Britain’s best by readers of Which? magazine, and the newest addition to its list of destinations will only boost its appeal further.

Hugh Aitken, easyJet’s UK commercial manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our 16th destination from Southend to the sunshine island.

“It’s the perfect choice for winter sun seekers from Southend and we’re sure our new services will be very popular.”

The airport also received attention at Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday morning, when MP for Rochford and Southend East, James Duddridge, invited David Cameron to Southend.

The exchange was tweeted by royal journalist Robert Jobson.

He tweeted: “#PMQS PM Cameron promised ‘Essex style celebration’ in new year and Rossi ice cream on seafront if he visits successful Southend Airport."

Many years ago - probably about 40 or so -, Channel Airways (remember them?) used to run a "bus stop" service between Southend, East Midlands and Tenerife. In those days, Waterguard (as Customs and Excise were known then) ran a very smooth operation, so much so that "touchdown to a cup of tea at home" was achievable in 15 - 20 minutes.
My next door neighbour in Eastwood tells me that he achieved the same a few months returning from Spain.
I haven't flown with EasyJet for some years now since a horrific return trip to Glasgow, but I wish them success with this new Southend route.

Hmmmm great route from the airport but not sure what the marketing director was suggesting by getting a TOWIE 'Star' to promote it. Is it that much a chav destination?

Now that alatair welch southend ex director has moved to manston just across the water, manston airport benefitting from a longer, stronger, wider runway, that is already capable of catering for 5 million pax. Obviously he has been brought in to do at manston what has been done at southend even to the degree of the airport being purchased for £1 he will be looking to promote manston to it full potential. With eastern visitors/investers looking over southend and how operations are carried out in the uk, and the fact that whatever the excuse has been for not supplying the accounts to southend council maybe the fact that it is not performing an addmission that things are not what they had hoped for, is the real reason for delay ? The accounts were supposed to be submitted in march, and after applying for a 90 (granted) extentsion still failed to submit accounts, until now still oweing 162 k which shows there was very little profit if any as if there had been profit the sum would have been grater in fact they owe more than this as interest has to be applied for late payment , I am worried that this is a death knell. easyjet will most defenatly have a get out clause from southend. I wounder if they will move to manston that has a much larger capture area.I guess time will tell.

I thought the payment was based on turnover rather than profit, so even if they had cut expenses to increase profit the payment would have been the same.
