A GANG of burglars attacked a man in his caravan before stealing his car in an audacious daylight raid.
The 26-year-old victim was battered over the head during the daylight raid in Thorney Bay Caravan Park, Canvey. His four attackers stole his car about 2pm on Thursday.
The victim was rushed to hospital with head injuries.
The extent of his injuries are unknown, but police reported the man was conscious at the scene.
Police scoured the island and later recovered the silver Vauxhaull Corsa, which is nowbeing forensically examined.
Officers are treating the incident as an aggravated burglary.
A spokeswoman said: “The victim, a 26-year-old man, received a head injury and has been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
“We will be speaking to him when he has been released.”
