A SCHOOLGIRL has landed a role in EastEnders.
Jasmine Armfield, 15, from Thundersley, will play the daughter of veteran Albert Square favourites, Sonia Jackson and Martin Fowler.
The teenager is the latest in a increasingly long line of south Essex actors to feature in the hit BBC1 soap.
The current crop includes Southend comedian Terry Alderton, 43, who plays Terry Spraggan, new Vic landlady Linda Carter, played by Kelly Bright, 37, from Great Wakering, and Sam Strike, 19, who went to stage school in Leigh and plays Linda’s son Johnny Carter.
Jasmine, who has attended Wickford’s Pauline Quirke Academy for the Performing Arts for two years, will arrive as Rebecca Fowler later this month.
Teri Levett, principal at the academy in Wickford, said: “I’m so very proud of her.
“Jasmine is a really hardworking pupil. EastEnders is going to be fantastic for her and I’m really, really pleased.”
Jasmine’s character Rebecca Fowler caused a stir 14 years ago when she was born on a living room floor in Albert Square.
Mum Sonia did not even know she was pregnant at the time and shortly gave her up.
Sonia later got married to Rebecca’s father Martin and the pair got their daughter back before leaving Albert Square.
Jasmine will make her debut alongside on-screen mum Natalie Cassidy, who will be returning to EastEnders after a seven-year absence.
A spokesman for EastEnders described Jasmine’s new character as “a bright child who is passionate about music, Rebecca can play the guitar beautifully, but is not someone who would blow her own trumpet.
“She wants to do well and make her parents proud, but it’s this determination that will be the making or undoing of her.”
