A KNIFE-WIELDING robber held up a Basildon newsagent this morning.

The raider threatened terrified two staff with a large kitchen knife during the raid at McColls newsagent, in the Triangle Centre in Langdon Hills at about 6.30am.

Two staff members handed over a three figure sum of cash.

The robber fled the store.

The two store workers were left shaken after the incident but were unhurt.

Police are appealing for anybody with any information about the robbery to call Dc Nicholas May at Basildon CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
